Andrew Gn Spring 2006: Sexily Innocent

4077166167PARIS Oct 5, 2005/ FW/ --- Andrew GN embellishes with style for a spring summer collection of grown up seventies silhouettes in a pretty perfect picture of psychedelic floral prints, contrasting black and white and embroidery genius going beyond simple prêt a porter.

Almost sexily innocent, shoulders are bare and skirts short, trousers are tight and jackets either long to elongate the torso or short for accentuated waistlines.

The collection rich in detail is always beautiful, but at times forgets the seasonal with looks often being mistaken for autumn winter rather than spring summer. Tweed coats with lace inserts and gabardine long sleeve suits are lovely but suited to Siberian summers rather than our own.

Tiers of lace and ruffles fall delicately alongside 3D floral appliqué and beading. Matador maidens wear lace detail down trouser legs for Spanish flare before favouring ethnic touches of raffia and wooden beading in circular patterns on a belt and patchwork twill poncho.

Little summer halter neck dresses are light made of flowing tiers of chiffon full of luminous colours mixing bright prints and patchwork.

The empire line is reserved for evenings and a black off the shoulder tulle gown with lace flower appliqué and jet beading explains just why Andrew GN is one of the fast growing up and coming designers on the must see list for quality during Paris fashion week. Michelle Taylor
