John Currin au Museum of New Art
John Currin, Sleeping Woman.
DETROIT.- The Museum of New Art presents John Currin. Artist John Currin, born in 1962, has established himself by painting controversial depictions of female subjects in a surrealistic Rockwellian-Old Master technique. Labeled as a mannerist, caricaturist, radical conservative or simply prankster, Currin continues to evade categorization. This Detroit exhibition (running concurrently with the New York exhibition of his recent painting) is Currin's first public showing of his photography. (courtesy www.Artdaily.org)
