ANTWERP, BELGIUM.- 1st Floor Gallery presents Alexandre Hollan - The Way of Trees - Paintings and Drawings, on view March 16 through April 21, 2007. Alexandre Hollan, a painter born in Budapest in 1933, has been living in Paris since 1956. Every year he spends part of the year in the South of France, in close contact with nature. The paintings and drawings of Alexandre Hollan are a medium through which the artist wonders about the mystery of view and colour. Sooty or light, the trees which Alexandre Hollan draws depict a silent inhabited space, a silence that is at once mysterious and clear. His research that is related to this same motif, the tree, produce extremely diverse images, varying according to his work method and the amount of time he spends on them. (Courtesy www.Artdaily.org)
