Joel Brodsky, “Jim Morrison, the Young Lion.”
STAMFORD, CT.- Album photographer Joel Brodsky, 67, died of a heart attack at his home. He took memorable album photographs of Jim Morrison, Aretha Franklin, Isaac Hayes, B.B. King, Carly Simon, Barry Manilow, Kiss, Iggy Pop and Gladys Knight and the Pips, and many other musicians in the 1960s and '70s. His most famous album cover photograph is the Jim Morrison portrait that shows him bare-chested, with his arms outstretched. It was featured on the cover of the 1985 "The Best of the Doors" album. The image is black-and-white and portrays the messianic, sensitive and dangerous qualities that made Morrison such an important musical figure of his time.
