Les meilleurs nouveaux créateurs américains: Barker Black
The Boys
In 2003, Kirk and Derrick Miller, sartorially minded brothers from Minnesota, approached Brit shoe brand Barker with their concept for Barker Black. “We’re interested in a traditional, throwback way of dressing,” says Derrick, 34, who was a designer at Ralph Lauren for years.
The Look
Old-school haberdashery with undertones of “screw you.” Loafers, monk straps, tuxedo shoes, and jodhpur boots are bench-made at the firm’s 125-year-old factory in England, with the brothers’ new skull-and-crossbones logo tapped into every sole. “I used to wear sneakers with dress trousers because there wasn’t anything out there,” explains Derrick. “The loafer with the bones on it is an alternative to that.”
