CHICAGO.- The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, will present Alexander Calder in Focus, on view July 28, 2007 – April 2008. Revealing his exploration of form, balance, color, and movement Alexander Calder in Focus provides an opportunity to discover how this influential artist’s ideas developed throughout his fifty-year career. This annual exhibition includes examples of Calder’s mobiles, stabiles, drawings, and paintings made from 1927 to 1968. Highlights from the show include the whimsical stabile Bird, constructed of coffee cans and tin to form a playful creature and Snow Flakes and Red Stop mobile resembling a gentle snow flurry.
