A pair of studio porcelain shishi - Taisho/Showa Period, sealed Makuzu (Kozan)

The fanciful seated lions with brown eyes and celadon-glazed bodies, one with closed mouth, one paw balanced on a ball, the other with mouth open, the impressed mark Makuzu to each base; together with a wooden tomobako signed to the lid interior Makuzu Kozan saku (made by Makuzu Kozan) with seal. Each approximately 4 3/4in (12.1cm) high - Estimate: $2,000 - 3,000 - Unsold
