A carved soapstone figure of Guanyin - 18th century

The Bodhisattva standing with her body swayed to the left atop a carp pursuing the flaming pearl amidst crested waves, pouring the elixir from a phial held in her hands, the face with eyes downcast in a serene expression, framed by a high cowl, wearing long flowing robes billowing in the wind incised with wave and cloud patterns. 28.5cm (11¼in) high .- Estimate: £1,500 - 2,000
