A late Ming large blue and white bowl made for the islamic market, 16th century
Decorated to the outside with a continuous scene of peacocks in a landscape amongst peony branches and peaches, above lappets and below stylised clouds, to the interior with a qilin looking at the moon, the rim with a geometrical pattern alternating with flying cranes in shaped cartouches, underglaze blue Fu Gui Jia Qi mark to base - 14¾in (37.4cm) diameter - Estimate : £1,000 - £1,200 ($1,766 - $2,119)
Notes : The mark to the base can be translated as 'Beautiful vessel for the rich and honorable'; it is typical of 16th and early 17th Century Chinese pieces.
