Google Supports Gay Marriage
Following in the prominent footsteps of Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg, one of the guys who created Google has spoken out in favour of gay marriage remaining legal in California.
Even though the campaign to defeat the proposed ban on gay marriage is falling behind financially, it is not known whether co-founder Sergey Brin would donate some money from his estimated $15.9 billion worth.
Writing in a blog, Brin said, "While there are many objections to this proposition - further government encroachment on personal lives, ambiguously written text - it is the chilling and discriminatory effect of the proposition on many of our employees that brings Google to publicly oppose Proposition 8."
"We hope that California voters will vote no on Proposition 8 - we should not eliminate anyone's fundamental rights, whatever their sexuality, to marry the person they love," Brin said.
Google has scored a perfect score of 100 percent in the Human Rights Campaign group's rankings of the best places in America for gays to work. (source www.dnamagazine.com.au )
