A large, deep and thickly potted dish, China, Longquan ware, Zhejiang province, Yuan dynasty

with a olive green glaze and a dragon moulded in relief in the centre, surrounded by a stylised and incised wave pattern in the well, the exterior carved with a lotus petal band, the recessed base is glazed and the unglazed footring burnt orange in the firing - Good condition - D. 35,9 cm - Estimate 1200 €

Provenance: Property from an old German private collection, purchased with Lempertz Cologne, 1982

Notes: Two similar dishes of same size in the Carl Kempe collection sold at Sotheby's London, 14 May 2008, and seven more references, among those also nine dishes in the Topkapi Saray collection in Istanbul, published in London 1986 by Regina Krahl, vol. 1, nos. 58-62, all dishes dated to the Yuan dynasty
