A Longquan celadon carved baluster vase. 15th century
Sturdily potted rising from a splayed foot to a high cylindrical neck and trumpet mouth, carved around the exterior with a wide band of chrysanthemum scrolls above a border of stiff upright petals rising from the foot, with three concentric rings encircling the trumpet mouth, covered all over with a thick green glaze, apart from a ring burnt orange in firing around the recessed base (chip). 46.4cm (18¼in) high. Estimate: £10,000 - 12,000 - Unsold.
