A large celadon-glazed barbed-rim bowl. Circa 1500
The robustly-potted body with lobed rounded sides rising from a short foot to a barbed rim, finely incised with lotus sprays below a classic scroll at the rim, the interior with further lotus sprays with a lobed medallion at the centre, covered overall in a sea-green glaze except for an unglazed ring on the base burnt russet in the firing. 31.9cm (12½in) diam. Sold for £7,200
