A blue and white eight-lobed jar. Jiajing six-character mark and of the period
Of ovoid form rising to the short neck, vividly painted in inky underglaze blue on each lobe with a medallion enclosing an auspicious emblem supported on a lingzhi fungus sprig rising from three-peaked mountains above a band of lotus petal panels, the emblems including dragon, fire scrolls, sheaf of grain, pine, constellation, possibly coral and three-peaked mountain, the shoulders with a classic scroll (the rim slightly polished), box. 14.5cm (5¾in) high.
