An Indian Khanjar. 18th Century
With finely watered slightly recurved double-edged blade with incised line borders and central fuller over each side, the forte chiselled with a flowering plant on both sides, hilt of pale green-grey mottled mutton-fat jade slightly indented for the fingers and carved in low relief with lotus-blossoms now set with small cabochon rubies, turquoises and a sapphire (two stones missing) on the scrolled rounded pommel and on either side over its lower half from the scrolled base, in its wooden scabbard covered in black leather with silver locket and deep chape each embossed and chased with a trellised design of foliage over both sides, one side against a pierced ground. 25 cm. blade - Sold for £5,280
