An art deco diamond brooch, circa 1930
Designed as 'un cercle', of pierced geometric form, pavé-set with graduating brilliant-cut diamonds and applied baguette-cut diamond detail, to a hinged opening, diamonds approximately 5.80 carats total, numbered, French assay marks, length 4.2cm. Estimate: £3,000 - 4,000
Footnote: Van Cleef & Arpels invented the 'circle' brooch, which could be clipped to a collar, hat or bag, circa 1930.
