An extremely rare blue and white bottle vase, yuhuchun ping. Yuan Dynasty
The elegant pear-shaped body rising to a waisted neck with a flared mouth and out-turned rim, all supported on a splayed foot, the inside mouth rim encircled with six pendant-ruyi lappets, the neck and upper body covered with lotus blossoms and leaves scattered on a scalloped-wave ground, above a band of upright petal lappets enclosing clouds and circles, and classic scroll around the foot, the base glazed except for the foot ring which is burnt orange, fitted box. 24cm (9 1/4in) high. Footnote: Yuan dynasty bottle vases are generally decorated with parallel bands separated by double lines. This bottle is unusual in that the design resembles a textile pattern and covers most of the body.
