PROVENANCE: The Collection of Mrs Cooper

When the painting was in the collection of Mrs Cooper, it was considered to be the work of Alonso Cano (Granada 1601-1667), as recorded on the Witt Library mount. However, an alternative attribution to Francisco Collantes (Madrid 1599-1656) has also been suggested.
