Vietnamese dancer win Best Dancer in UK

VietNamNet Bridge – Graduating from the Vietnam Dance School and working for the Vietnam Music – Dance – Drama Theatre, dancer Ngoc Anh, who is living in the UK, has won the Best Male Dancer Award of the UK.

This is a national award for dancers, called “National Dance Award Critic's Circle”. The winners are selected by prestigious art critics.

First given in 1999, this award is a significant dance event in the UK. The National Dance Award Critic's Circle 2008 had three nominees and Ngoc Anh was the winner. The award was presented at the Sadler’s Well Theatre, London on January 26.

Ngoc Anh is living in the UK. He studied at the Vietnam Dance School from 1991-1998. He worked for the Vietnam Music – Dance – Drama Theatre for three months after graduation. He then went to Hong Kong for studies.

Ngoc Anh defeated nearly 800 candidates from various countries to be recruited by the UK-based Random Dance, a reputed dance company in Europe. He is a key dancer of this company and has performed in many countries.

The Vietnamese dancer has won other prizes, including the third prize in the Vietnam Young Talented Dancer Contest 2002, Young Choreographer 2005 in the UK, and was one of the top 20 outstanding choreographers of Europe – The Place Prize 2006. He was assistant to the choreographer for the “Harry Porter and the Goblet of Fire” movie. (VietNamNet/VTC)
