Ming dynasty, 17th century the high-polished auburn coloured horn carved in high-relief with Shoulao riding a crane set below the overhanging lip, hovering above a recumbent deer, flanked on the sides by the Eight Daoist Immortals standing on rocky outcrops, set amidst mountains and clouds, the back carved with a gnarled pine tree, the interior rim set with a bough of peaches at one end, stand. 17 cm., 6 3/4 in. A glass Perfume Bottle. Syria, 7th-9th Century free-blown in greenish-colourless glass, the funnel mouth with a rounded rim and hollow flange on an elongated ovoid body tapering to a knob-like base, the upper part decorated with two thick vertical pincered trails in contrasting bluish-green glass, while the four similar trails in alternating bluish-green and colourless glass on the lower body also form feet on which teh vessel stands. 9.2 cm. high.
