An incised green and yellow 'dragon' dish, Jiajing six-character mark and of the period
The exterior finely incised with two sinuous dragons chasing flaming pearls, the interior with a central medallion enclosing a full-faced dragon amidst cloud scrolls, all on a green ground stopping short of the base. 19.7cm (7¾in) diam. Sold for £27,600
Provenance: R.H.R.Palmer, collection label no.345.
Palmer Inventory no.345, where it is stated that the dish was purchased in November 1934 for £50.
