A monumental repoussé gilt-copper head of Sakyamuni Buddha. Tibet, 19th century or possibly earlier
The benevolent face with serene smile and lotus petal-shaped eyes surmounted by painted arched eyebrow and a raised urna, the face applied on either side with long earlobes, the hair painted with azurite blue pigment, arranged in tight curls covering the usnisha with domed finial, elaborate high stand. The head 113.5cm (44¾in) high. (2). Estimate: £25,000 - 30,000 - Unsold
