A pale green jade inscribed snuff bottle, mid Qing dynasty

Of flattened rounded form, tapering from the narrow foot and rising gently at the shoulders, the pale green stone with white striations, skilfully worked and incised on one side with a branch of blossoming flowers extending round to the other side on which is inscribed a five column inscription in clerical script, stopper. 6.3cm (2½in) high. (2). Sold for HK$38,400

Note: A related jade snuff bottle from the J & J Collection, with a clerical inscription engraved and highlighted with gilt, was sold, Christie's New York, Important Chinese Snuff Bottles from the J & J Collection, Part V, 17 September 2008, lot 42. That bottle was attributed to the Beijing Palace Workshops.
