Carved from translucent, light lavender jadeite suffused with pale green and brown, depicting the Shakyamuni Buddha, founder of Buddhism, holding a highly translucent bright green jadeite begging bowl and a Buddhist relic, wearing jadeite bangles of light brown colour, the lavender jadeite protuberance on his head, representing wisdom, on a wooden stand, dimensions 143.5 x 55.0 x 35.6mm.. Sold for HK$162,000
Accompanied by a report from the Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory, stating that the carving is natural jadeite and no resin was detected. Report number KJ 41717, dated 12th March 2009.
