The Smallery, Berlin

untitled2

Berlin, Germany - From the beginning of August Germany’s largest city will be the home to what is probably the smallest gallery in the country. The Smallery. Behind the project is PULK Berlin. The Smallery itself is a small, purpose-built garden shed. The exhibition manages to fit 24 pieces into an exhibition space less than 1.5 m2 in size. The pieces are contributed by internationally successful illustrators from New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Vegby (Sweden), Hamburg, Munich and, of course, Berlin.

The pieces themselves are, not surprisingly, unusually small. Each piece is to be reproduced in an edition of 50 high-quality prints and is available to purchase for 30 Euros. The opening took place on Friday in the PULK courtyard, Torstrasse 109 in Berlin-Mitte.

The Smallery will be open to the public from Saturday the 8th of August and from this point on will be found for four weeks on one of the last remaining empty pieces of land in the Weinbergsweg, which runs between Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg.

PULK also welcomed the radio station MotorFM who will, as media partner to the project, be providing editorial and on-air promotions for its duration.

The 12 participating artists are: Gary Baseman / Los Angeles, Thomas Fuchs / New York, Sophie Herken / Berlin, Marc Herold / München, Sabine Kippenberg / Hamburg, Isabel Klett / Barcelona, Andrea Ventura / New York / Berlin, Johan Potma / Berlin, Felix Reidenbach / Vegby, Gary Taxali / Toronto, Andrea Ventura / New York / Berlin, Riccardo Vecchio / New York.

PULK Berlin is a creative network that serves as an agency for communication with focus on graphic design, advertising, film, music and brand architecture. PULK’s clients include adidas, Betterplace.org., Bosch, DER SPIEGEL, MotorFM und MTV/ VIVA. Visit The Smallery Gallery at : http://www.pulk-berlin.com/smallery/
