Imperial yellow-ground blue and white saucer dish. Six character mark of Zhengde within a double ring and of the period, 1506-1521.with shallow rounded sides and gently flaring rim on a slightly inverted foot painted in the centre with a flowering gardenia spray, the single branch bearing two open blooms, a bud and eight leaves, all within a double ring repeated at the rim, the cavetto with fruiting branches of peach, pomegranate and vine and a tied bouquet of flowering lotus, the underside encircled by a continuous peony... Six character mark of Jiajing and of the period, 1522-1566.painted on the body in a continuous scene with two yellow-glazed black-outlined five-clawed dragons amongst peony flowerheads, flames and scrolls with ruyi-head clouds at the shoulder, all above rocks and crested waves at the foot.  ½ inches, 13.9cm high. Imperial green-ground iron-red decorated vase of gourd form, Six character mark of Jiajing within a double ring and of the period, 1522-1566. the lower bulb painted with four lotus flowerheads on a scrolling branch amongst leaves, beneath a classic scroll band on the shoulder, the upper bulb with three lotus flowerheads on a similar scrolling branch amongst leaves, above three peony flowerheads on a scrolling floral branch at the waist. 7 ½ inches, 19.2cm high.
