Né à Nantes le 17 septembre 1871 dans une famille de propriétaires, Edgard Maxence grandit dans un univers où rien ne le prédestine à une vie d'artiste.Rien ne permet de savoir, faute de documents, d'où vient la vocation de Maxence.
