JERUSALEM.- A rare signet ring bearing an image of the God Apollo, the Greek God of sunlight, that was uneartherd in northern Israel in an excavation by Hebrew University, showing the wealth and taste for intricate and stylish art at that time, during the 4th or 3rd century BCE in northern Israel near current day Zichron Yaacov, and was not limited to large cities. The excavations were carried out in a Hellenistic town called Dor, which archaeologists believe was a major port town and a center of Greek culture 2,300 years ago. EPA/HEBREW UNIVERSITY.
