BRUXELLES – Lucas Cranach est l’un des plus grands peintres européens du XVIe siècle. Cette exposition - la première consacrée à l’artiste dans un pays du Benelux - replace l’oeuvre de cette personnalité de la Renaissance allemande dans le contexte social, culturel et artistique de son époque. Peintre de cour, il a aussi fréquenté de grandes personnalités comme Martin Luther, tout en libérant la nudité et le pouvoir de la femme dans un style sensuel antiacadémique. Au détour de 150 peintures, dessins et gravures rarement exposés, découvrez l’authenticité et l’originalité de son art raffiné, son travail d’atelier mais aussi les liens étroits qui l’unissaient à ses contemporains d’Allemagne, d’Italie et des Pays-Bas, tels Dürer ou Metsys. Un voyage à travers une période passionnante de l’histoire européenne.
