A Chinese Longquan celadon glazed shallow bowl. Early Ming dynasty, 15th Century. Courtesy Marchantwith flat everted rim, carved in the well with three phoenix birds in flight amongst insects, encircled by a continuous scrolling branch of flowering lotus, the exterior with a band of lappets above the foot, covered over all in a rich celadon glaze, the base with a burnt red unglazed ring.; 6 3/8 inches, 16.3cm diameter. These unique cuff-links are hand-made in 18kt white gold. With bezel-set natural, Brilliant-cut fine Diamond 'eyes'. Their combined, total weight is 0.20 carats (G color, VS2 clarity). The design of the connecting backs are composed of two gesturing skeletal hands; one with the universal symbol of Peace and Tranquility, the other with the Jewish symbol of Serenity. A blue and white saucer decorated on the interior with two mythological phoenix birds in flight, each with outspread wings and streaming tail amongst stylized clouds framed by a linked ruyi cloud border. The exterior painted with pendent prunus branches with a song bird perched upon them in opposing position encircled by double line borders. On the base is painted the six character kaishu mark...
