A fierce dragon seems to guard a rare treasure in this outstanding Wedgwood Victoria ware teapot. Comprising the handle and spout of this gilt-accented pot, this life-like creature sits atop the pot's ovoid body. Created in 1879, Victoria ware was a highly successful version of pte sur pte porcelain. To find such a remarkable example of this beloved creation, especially in such flawless condition, is quite extraordinary. A majolica teapot in this Dragon motif is pictured in Wedgwood Ceramics: 1846-1959 by Maureen Batkin.
