Painted on the exterior with mandarin ducks swimming among blossoming lotus below grassy sprays and above a lappet border at the foot, similar design repeated on the interior base. Diameter 5 3/8 inches. Estimate $100,000-150,000
Provenance: Private Collection of the Prominent Official of the Qing Court and Governor of three provinces Duan Fang (1861-1911), and thence by descent as dowry to his daughter on her marriage to Yuan Kequan son of Yuan Shikai, a high Qing Court official who became President of China 1915-1916 taking the reign name of Hongxian, thence by descent to Anita Yuan who brought the Collection out of China through Hong Kong and then to New York in the late 1940s
