Lot 1225. An archaistic rhinoceros horn cup, 17th century; 6 in. (15.3 cm.) long, box. Estimate $100,000 - USD 150,000. Price Realized $290,500. © Christie's Ltd 2011 Carved around the sides with a band of taotie masks reserved on a leiwenground, the handle formed by two clambering chilong, the larger reaching over into the interior as it bites the rim, which is incised with a further band of key fret, the horn of rich honey color. 37 œuvres inconnues du peintre Foujita offertes par un collectionneur à un musée japonais

Ces tableaux qui n'étaient jamais apparus sur le marché de l'art ont causé la surprise des conservateurs.  Le musée Pola à Hakoné, près de Tokyo, qui conserve l’une des plus grandes collections privées japonaise, a eu une bonne surprise en recevant, le 31 août 2011, 37 tableaux du peintre Tsugouharu...
