Chinese rhinoceros horn log raft carving,  17th-18th century.  Photo courtesy Freeman's  The well-carved, openwork vessel shows Zhang Qian riding comfortably in his hollowed log raft; horn of dark burnished patina; with well-carved openwork wood base resembling turbulent water.  L: 5 3/4 in.  LUOYANG CITY.- A worker sprays water to keep humidity of the excavation of Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770 BC-221 BC) in Luoyang city, central China s Henan province.
