Provenance: Former old German private collection

A similar figure on a lotus flower head base from the collection of Captain and Mrs. V. Bulkeley-Johnson (who formed the Mount Trust), was included by Godfrey Gompertz and Margaret Medley in A Thousand Years of Chinese Ceramic Art, Oriental Ceramic Society at the Quantas gallery, Piccadilly, London, 1966, Catalogue no. 96,

another in the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art on a lotus petal base is illustrated by Margaret Medley in The World's Great Collections, Oriental Ceramic, Volume 6, no. 205

A later standing Buddha by Xu Youyi (1887-1940) from the Richard Lehman Gray collection is illustrated by John Ayers in Blanc de Chine, Divine Images in Porcelain, plate 72, p. 121
