the central field on one side carved and polychromed to depict an elaborate landscape of a Daoist Paradise, illustrating mountainous peaks and waves occupied by numerous groups of male and female Immortals variously holding auspicious objects and flowers, gathering to greet Shoulao and Xiwangmu, framed by a border of auspicious objects above, with dragons emerging from clouds to the sides, and mythical beasts along the bottom, and all enclosed by a border of stylised character roundels, the reverse carved with lengthy inscriptions and Kangxi cyclical date, framed by bird and flower panels and auspicious objects; 280 by 540cm, 212.6 by 110.2in.
