The Bromberger Collection is particularly rich in Chinese jade articles. Dating to the Ming Dynasty is a celadon jade figure of a recumbent lion grabbing a ball, length 6 7/8 inches (est. $80,000-120,000). Also featured are an 18th century white jade covered censer, height 4 1/2 inches (est. $60,000-80,000); an 18th century white jade mountain carving, height 5 1/2 inches (est. $50,000-70,000); and a 17th/18th century celadon jade libation cup carved with five baby dragons, height 3 inches, width 6 1/4 inches (est. $30,000-50,000). Among the other jade offerings are a 19th century green jade censer, height 6 3/4 inches (est. 30,000-50,000); an 18th century white jade finger citron covered pot, length3 1/2 inches (est. $20,000-30,000); and an 18th century black and white jade toggle carved as a cluster of shells, length 2 inches (est. $20,000-30,000).

The robustly carved beast shown in a recumbent position with the head turned grasping a berriboned ball between the front legs and with a pup clamboring over its haunches, the stone an even tone with minor chestnut inclusions, wood base. The compressed globular body flanked by a pair of stylized scroll and dragon head handles framing taotie masks carved in relief and set on a spreading foot carved with an inverted shield border, the domed lid worked with a composite foliate scroll below a lappet band a pierced peony blossom finial, wood stand. The semi-translucent stone worked in relief on one side with an immortal, a deer and two attendants below a hut amid pine in a rocky landscape, the reverse carved with lingzhi fungus and pine amid towering rockwork, the base carved with swirling water, wood stand. Height 5 1/2 inches. Estimate $50,000-70,000

The steep sides carved on the exterior in high relief with five dragons crawling amid swirling clouds, grasses and lingzhi fungus, a fungus-shaped handle on one end, the stone a gray tone with light chestnut inclusions, wood stand. Height 3 inches, width 6 1/4 inches. There are old natural cracks in the wall of the stone by the front of the cup going vertically down the side, please refer to photographs. Otherwise no later chips or cracks. Well carved attractive stone. Estimate $30,000-50,000

The globular-form body raised on lion mask and paw legs, carved in relief with taotie masks between lion head and loose ring handles issuing from the rim over the shoulder, the lid worked with a pierced dragon-form finial above elephant and taotie masks, the stone a mottled bright celadon green, fitted wood stand.
