NOTE DE CATALOGUE: Deux poinçons aux initiales P.T sont connus pour cette période. L'un, dans un cadre à pans coupés, est sur une boîte à thé de 1691, conservée au Gemeentemusuem, La Haye, attribué à Pieter Tamé (1687-1740). L'autre est dans un cadre mouvementé, et se trouve sur ces flambeaux ici offerts, mais aussi sur d'autres pièces dont une bouilloire, dont le poinçon fut lu ET et attribué à Elias Tal, vendue chez Sotheby's Amsterdam le 3 novembre 2003, n° 15. (Fredericks vol II, p. 165). D'après Voet, l'autre orfèvre aux mêmes initiales travaillant à la Haye à cette période-là était Paulus Thierry (Jet Pijzel-Domisse Haags goud en zilver, Zwolle, 2006, no. 190). Généralement, ce genre de flambeaux est fabriqué en deux parties, voire même en trois parties sur un modèle anglais, poinçon de maître WC, Londres, vers 1670, vendu chez Sotheby's Londres, juin 1965, n° 55.

Two maker's marks in the Hague with the initials P.T at this period are known. One in a surround with faceted corners is on a tea caddy of 1691, in the Gemeentemusuem the Hague and ascribed tentatively to Pieter Tamé (1687-1740). The other, the one found on these candlesticks is in a contoured surround and is found on a number of items including a tea kettle, thought to be ET for Elias Tal and sold Sothebys Amsterdam 3 November 2003, lot 15. (Fredericks vol II, p. 165). According to Voet, the other goldsmith working in the Hague at this date with these initials is Paulus Thierry. See: Jet Pijzel-Domisse Haags goud en zilver, Zwolle, 2006, no. 190. Normally candlesticks of this type are in two tiers. An English pair in three tiers maker's mark WC, London, circa 1670 was sold Sothebys London, June 1965, lot 55.
