The Order of the Golden Fleece was established by Duke Philip the Good of Burgundy in 1430. The Order's emblem is the golden ram's fleece associated with Jason in Greek mythology; the Order's jewel is called the Toison ("fleece" in French). Several eighteenth-century jewels belonging to the Order of the Golden Fleece are on display in the Residenz Treasury.
