NOTE: The painting can be dated circa 1629-35 on the basis of similarities with a signed and dated work of 1629 in a private collection in Germany (1) and a signed and dated work of 1635, with similar lilies, which was with David Koetser, Zurich, in 1982. We are grateful to Fred G. Meijer of the Rijskbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie for confirming the attribution to Fornenburgh on the basis of photographs.
