naturalistically modeled with steep everted sides rising to an irregularly undulating rim, resting on four tapered feet from which emerge lingzhi in high relief, applied overall with a deep and lustrous coral glaze, gilt four-character Qianlong mark, Japanese wood box (2).
Provenance: Acquired in Japan between 1947 and 1952 and thence by descent.
Note: Coral glazed washers are very rare. A coral-glazed, coral-form Qianlong dated washer of smaller size was sold at Christie's New York, 19th March 2008, lot 660.
