A White Jade 'Chrysanthemum' Ruyi Sceptre. Qing Dynasty, 18th Century - Photo Sotheby's
finely carved in openwork with a branch of flowering chrysanthemum entwined around the arched shaft, with two larger blooms resting on the top edge of the ruyi-shaped terminal, the bottom detailed with an angular archaistic scroll and pierced for threading a purple tassel, the pale translucent stone of an even greenish-white tone finished to a lustrous polish; 36 cm., 14 1/4 in.
