of slightly waisted cylindrical form, the exterior painted in various shades of cobalt with a continuous scene depicting two scholars in a grassy landscape, watching the God of Examination Kui Xing performing a dance, one scholar seated at an altar table next to an attendant raising a ruyi sceptre, another servant standing behind holding the reins of a horse, beside a waterfall enshrouded in ribbony clouds, the other scholar dressed in long flowing robes and carrying a scroll next to a large overhanging willow tree, all between two incised bands of composite floral scrolls at the rim and foot, the interior of the mouthrim and the base left unglazed; 22.2 cm., 8 3/4 in.
