It is decorated with a continuous scene with four scholars in long robes, all accompanied by attendants carrying various objects and within a terraced garden landscape with pine trees and below wind-swept clouds. A rare blue and white jar, Guan, Yongle period (1403-1425). Photo Christie's Image Ltd 2012 The jar is potted with rounded walls and slightly waisted foot. The exterior is painted in underglaze cobalt blue, with 'heaping and piling', the sides decorated with flowers of the seasons, peony, lotus, chrysanthemum and camellia, each flower with two large blooms and some smaller flowers and buds amidst leaves on branching stems. A Very Rare Blue And White Square 'Dragon' Jar, guan. Wanli Underglaze-Blue Six-Character Mark Within A Double Square And Of The Period (1573-1619). Photo Christie's Image Ltd 2012 The jar is decorated in vibrant shades of blue to each side, with a large five-clawed scaly dragon amongst precious objects, lotus blooms and stylised clouds above a crane and a pair of phoenix.
