Porcelain with Famille-Rose painting and delicate gold decoration. Set including 2 parts: Large circular bowl (diam. 29,5 cm) and corresponding large plate (diam. 47 cm). Each with a half moon in the centre, encircling a verse in Arabic characters. The rim with large floral borders, including reserves with lingzhi-funghi and peaches. Min. rest. At the rim, small chip and small fissure. Estimation : 1 400 €

Note: There has been a very long tradition of exporting Chinese porcelain to the Middle East and Islamic regions in India, which goes back to the 8th cent.
In order to satisfy the taste of the export markets typical Chinese motifs were combined with an Arabian iconography. See: Kerr/Mengoni, Chinese Export Ceramics, London 2011, pp. 104-116.
