Kangxi period (1662-1722) hookah base, which is a copy of the 17th century Indian spherical hookah bases that were made of metal or glass. This hookah base has a globular body with a narrow truncated neck, top grinded, Indian metal rim. Decorated with blossoming prunus trees and peonies in blue and white and red, set in six mihrab panels; later clobbered in red and green enamels. Above the panels there are lotus designs and floral scrolls, which originate from the Yuan dynasty decorative repertoire. The neck of the hookah has a moulded ring painted with dense patterns. 20cm high, 17cm wide. Price on request.
