An ancient Roman bronze AE3 follis coin of the second son of Constantine the Great, Emperor Constantius II, (Flavius Julius Constantius Augustus) struck 337 - 361 A.D. at the Trier mint.
A detailed, well struck coin with beautiful patina. The obverse of the coin depicts a fabulous portrait of the Emperor, who is shown facing right with laureate bust. The Emperor is portrayed idealistically, with strong jaw, prominent features and closely cropped hair. The legend reads: CONSTANTIVS IVN[ior] NOB[ilis] C[aesar] - "Constantius Junior, Noble Caesar".
The reverse shows a Camp gate (symbol of military strength), with the legend: PROVIDENTIAE CAESS[ar] - "To the good fortune of the Emperors".
