Provenance
Moulded in high relief with James II Crowned by Peace and Justice, the reverse inscribed in white ‘James II Crowned by Peace and Justice with Discord beneath his feet. Copied from an ivory plaque in the Victoria and Albert Museum signed ‘Jacobus Constantin fecit’
Probably French 17th century and was possibly made to commemorate the suppression of the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685
