Chinese Silk Robe, 19th Century. Photo courtesy Doyle Embroidered in gold and colors with eight dragons amid 'precious objects', bats and lingzhi shaped clouds above a terrestrial diagram and a lishui stripe all on a brown ground. Height 57 inches. Robe is not lined except for bottom on sleeves. Overall good condition, some scattered and minor thread pulls. Minor fading on the front of the robe that is even. Tibetan Silk Chuba, Qing Dynasty. Photo courtesy Doyle The long sleeved tapered shape worked in Chinese silk with a dragon and phoenix design on a yellow ground bordered with rabbit fur. Height 62 inches. Areas of loss to fur trim. Area of soiling to front phoenix that goes through to the lining, scattered light small areas of soiling on back and front. Tibetan Silk Chuba, Qing Dynasty. Photo courtesy Doyle The long sleeved tapered shape worked in Chinese silk, with seven dragons in gold thread on a blue and green billowing cloud ground, bordered with rabbit fur trim. Height 66 inches. Lined in cotton and silk materials in good condition. Robe has no obvious fading. Underneath the front fold is an area of different textile that has some fading and some wear, see images, not visible when robe is buttoned.
