This magnificent, hexagonal and tall baluster porcelain vase of the Qianlong Period is of exceptional quality.
The six sides of the body are painted lavishly in underglaze blue with a floral décor of lotus, peonies, cherries and prune blossoms as well as with pomegranates and peaches, both traditional Chinese symbols for abundance of children and longevity.
The accentuated foot rim and the flared mouth of the tall vase are both decorated with a meander bordure.
The neck is adorned with a swastika and a ruyi bordure. Underneath the vase shows a centrally placed and immaculately executed six-character seal mark of the Qianlong Period (1736-1795) in underglaze blue.
The vase stems from a Berlin private collection; an invoice from 1967 is enclosed.
The porcelain vase is in excellent condition apart from some minor, with the unaided eye hardly discernible, manufacturing flaws in the glazing. Its height is 63.5 cm.
